Some links in Canny Picks are affiliate links. If you buy through one, the company may pay us a commission. You pay the same price either way.

What that does not change

We choose the pick first and look for a referral program second. Several of our top picks pay us nothing, and every guide names a tool to skip, including tools with generous commissions.

How we check prices

Prices come from each company's own pricing page on the date shown on the guide. Software prices change often. Confirm the current price on the vendor's site before you buy. If you spot one that is out of date, tell us.

What the guides are not

They are our opinion for a typical shop of one to ten people. They are not accounting, tax, legal or payroll advice. Check with your own accountant before changing bookkeeping or payroll systems.
